PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting device that suppresses degradation in light-emitting layer including an ECL material without requiring a control circuit for preventing color shift as white light-emission. SOLUTION: The light-emitting device is provided with a first substrate (11), a pair of first electrodes (12) provided on the first substrate, a second substrate (13) provided separately and oppositely to the first substrate, a pair of second electrodes (14) provided on the second substrate, a first light-emitting layer (15), which is provided on the first substrate side between the first substrate and the second substrate and includes a supporting salt and a first light-emitting material emitting light through electrochemical oxidization or reduction, a second light-emitting layer (16), which is provided on the second substrate side between the first substrate and the second substrate and includes a supporting salt and a second light-emitting material emitting light through electrochemical oxidization or reduction, and a selective permeation layer (17) that is provided between the first light-emitting layer and the second light-emitting layer and is nonpermeable or poorly-permeable with respect to the first/second light-emitting materials while being permeable with respect to the supporting salt.
