PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the generation of a top mark which is sometimes generated on several turns of the inside periphery when coiling a hot-rolled metallic strip into a coil shape. SOLUTION: When coiling the hot-rolled metallic strip 1 with a coiler, on and after starting winding around a mandrel 7 of headmost part 1a of the hot-rolled metallic strip and before starting the second winding, a water-soluble lubricant 9 is supplied between the hot-rolled metallic strip 1 and the mandrel 7.
