A method for improving the reverse coverage is disclosed, comprising: A, when a base station requests a terminal to enable the reverse repetition, on the premise of making sure the service quality requirement and transmission speed of the terminal are persistent, then step B is executed; B, if the reverse gain still can not be improved after repetition, then the reverse repetition will not be enabled; or, the reverse repetition will be enabled. The method of present invention can take into account the subchannel gain, the repetition gain and the interaction of both synthetically, ensure that the whole gain of reverse link increases after theenabled repetition, and prevent the system from sacrificing the bandwidth without improving the reverse coverage capability but deteriorating it in some circumstances after the enabled repetition occurs.
