The muffler has a muffler body including a connecting member (18) that has a hollow space (30) and partially extends in an axial longitudinal direction of the body. The hollow space is sectionally formed by an absorber element (26). The absorber element has a micro-perforated metal or plastic surface and a layer made of a sound-absorbing material, and is made of paper, metallic fibrous web, or rolled/sintered metal or plastic web. The body has a holding element for receiving and positioning the connecting member.
