The device has a gear wheel (10) with circular ring areas (20, 22) arranged on an axle (11). The circular ring area (20) forms a coupling element (21) i.e. gear-wheel groove, in which a lever arm (25) is engaged. An adjusting unit (23) assigned to the circular ring area (22) adjusts the speed of the gear wheel. The axle is provided with a piezo-electric adjustment mechanism (30), which actuates the lever arm to connect the lever arm with the coupling element of the circular ring area (20) of the gear wheel in a form-fit manner. An independent claim is also included for a method for adjusting rotation speed of a gear wheel.
