PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a (meth)acrylic polymer having a high lactone ring structure content, by which the (meth)acrylic polymer inhibiting the insolubility of the polymer in solvents and excellent in moldability is obtained. SOLUTION: This method for producing the (meth)acrylic polymer is characterized by polymerizing a monomer mixture comprising 25 to 40 mass% of a monomer represented by general formula (1) (wherein, R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>are each independently H or a 1 to 20C organic residue), 2 to 40 mass% of an alkyl (meth)acrylate (excluding methyl methacrylate), and the remainder comprising the methyl methacrylate.
