A client-based personalized search manager is provided to enable a personalized search manager to manage the preference information of a user in a client area, and reflect it to a user search condition, thereby providing the search result approached to the intention of the user. A user inputs preference information contents such as at least search API, media kind, file format, date, period, file size range, domain limit which he/she prefers through the environment setting of the personalized search manager(401). The inputted preference information is stored(402). The user inputs a search condition through an input unit based on the intuitive and convenient method(403). The inputted preference information is applied to the search condition(404). The search condition is outputted to an external AP through a network interface(405). The search result performed in the external API is received(406). Contents selected by the user within the search result is requested to a content server(407). The requested contents is received from the content server(408).
