PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an art for correcting linear defects at a high speed based on the positional information about the linear defect of an imaging element, even if thinning-reading of a through image or the like. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes an image sensor (1) which has a plurality of pixels arranged in two dimension on a light receiving surface, and can selectively read an image signal of a pixel group corresponding to a specified line in the pixel array, a storage part (8) which stores the position of a defective line showing abnormal output of the image signal among the lines, and a control part (7) which instructs the image sensor to read, in a thinning manner, the image signal in unit of line from the pixel of the light receiving surface, while re-specifies a reading line, excluding the defective line, if the reading line of thinning-reading agrees with the defective line.
