PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmission module that can materialize output/stop of a signal light through attaching/detaching of an optical connector even by using a general purpose optical connector, that can prevent malfunction due to electrostatic discharge, and that can detect the attaching/detaching frequency of the optical connector. SOLUTION: The optical transmission module is mounted with a receptacle 13 in which an optical connector 12 attached to an optical fiber is inserted and with a signal control circuit part 21 which contains an optical device 31 for transmitting/receiving optical signals with the optical fiber. The receptacle 13 is provided with a pair of electrode pads 17a, 17b that are short-circuited by a conduction piece 15 attached to the optical connector 12, wherein the pair of electrode pads are connected to a connector circuit part 20 that is made an open circuit or a closed circuit by the attaching/detaching of the optical connector. Then, the signal control circuit part 21 is equipped with control means (29, 30) that control operation of the optical device 31 by the open circuit or the closed circuit of the connector circuit part 20, and is electrically insulated from the connector circuit part 20.
