PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus making density unevenness, which occurs over the whole of a recording area by a conveyance error of a recording medium or a displacement error in the main scanning direction of a recording head, inconspicuous for improving quality of an image finally formed on the recording medium. SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus is provided with recording heads 121-124 wherein a plurality of nozzles 121a-124a jetting ink toward the recording medium are arranged. The recording heads 121-124 are divided into first and second nozzle groups NS1 and MS2 comprising nine nozzles 121a-124a respectively. The first and second nozzle groups NS1 and NS2 form an image by thinned patterns MP1 and MP2 constructed by a predetermined ratio and a thinning method. The thinned patterns MP1 and MP2 are constructed so that blank dots are compensated mutually and dot formation density is periodically varied in the main scanning direction and the sub scanning direction.
