PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for pressing a workpiece, by which controlling of dimensions and force required when a plurality of workpieces are connected with each other or members to be attached to the workpieces are connected with each other, is preferably controlled. SOLUTION: A first hydraulic cylinder 31 and a second hydraulic cylinder 32, which have a first chamber 37 and a second chamber 38 partitioned by a piston 34 respectively, and have the same specification, are connected with each other by a hydraulic circuit 40. Pressure is applied to both workpieces by moving a pair of heads 36, which are connected to the respective pistons 34 and are opposed to each other and are arranged so as to come into contact with the first workpiece W1 and the second workpiece W2, so as to approach to each other by supplying working oil into the respective first chambers 37. The second workpiece W2 is press fitted into the attaching hole A of the first workpiece W1 by applying the pressure to the workpieces. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
