PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dispense with components and electric wires for connecting between a lamp socket and a discharge lamp lighting circuit section, and between the discharge lamp lighting circuit section and a light-receiving element, respectively.

SOLUTION: In the discharge lamp lighting device 2 for performing lighting control of a discharge lamp, the lamp socket 20 for mounting a base of the discharge lamp on, the discharge lamp lighting circuit section 21 for supplying power to the discharge lamp 1 through the lamp socket 20, and the light-receiving element 23 for receiving an infrared-ray remote-control signal indicating lighting conditions of the discharge lamp 1 from the outside are mounted on the same substrate 24.
