PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition for an optical material having high transparency in a wavelength of 1310 nm and using no expensive fluorine-containing resin, a resin film for the optical material using the resin composition and an optical waveguide using the same. SOLUTION: The resin composition for the optical material contains a base polymer (A), a photo-polymerizable compound (B) and a photopolymerization initiator (C), wherein a repeating unit of the (A) component and a skeleton of the (B) component contain no hydroxide group, amino group, carboxy group and fluorine group, one of the repeating unit of the (A) component and the skeleton of the (B) component contains an aromatic hydrocarbon group, one of the repeating unit of the (A) component and the skeleton of the (B) component contains an aliphatic hydrocarbon group and/or an alicyclic hydrocarbon group and the ratio of the sum total of the aliphatic hydrocarbon group and the alicyclic hydrocarbon group to the sum total of the aromatic hydrocarbon group is (80:20)-(5:95) (by mol).
