PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an outdoor unit for an air-conditioner, further advantageous in reducing noises and saving energy. SOLUTION: The upward blow type outdoor unit for the air-conditioner comprises a bottom plate 114 mounted on a mounting leg 115, a sectionally U-shaped heat exchanger 106 arranged on the bottom plate around its three sides, a tank 112 such as a compressor arranged on the bottom plate inside the heat exchanger, a shroud 110 arranged above the heat exchanger in opposition to the bottom plate, and a blower consisting of a propeller fan 107 and a motor 108 arranged inside the shroud. The heat exchanger 106 is arranged to suck air from three of four side faces of the outdoor unit, of which one side face is formed as a front face 102 where the heat exchanger is not arranged.
