PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrially advantageous process for producing biarylphosphine compounds useful as a ligand of a transition metal complex used as a catalyst for organic reactions. SOLUTION: The process for producing the biarylphosphine compound is characterized by subjecting a biarylsulfonate compound to a coupling reaction with a hydrogen-phosphine compound in the presence of a catalyst and an organic strong base and affording the biarylphosphine compound. A nickel compound or a palladium compound is preferably used as the catalyst and DBU (1,8-diazabicyclo[5.4.0]undecene-7) etc., are preferably used as the organic strong base.
