PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety device of a passenger conveyor capable of preventing even secondary disaster by emergency stopping of the passenger conveyor. SOLUTION: This passenger conveyor 1 is slantingly arranged between the mutual vertically separate story floors, and has an emergency broadcasting switch 7 fixed to a triangular space formed between a horizontal ceiling part of a building or a covering part of an adjacent passenger conveyor and a moving handrail 3 traveling so as to cross with the horizontal ceiling part of the building or the covering part of the adjacent passenger conveyor and input in response to the movement of a substantially triangular protective plate 4 by a first distance in the horizontal direction by external force, and can reduce risk of overturning in the emergency stopping by enabling a passenger to stand ready by recognizing abnormality by broadcasting an emergency before the emergency stopping of the passenger conveyor.
