PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem wherein a method for effectively utilizing a thined wood and waste timber is studied but there is a limit in strength and dimensions to restrict its use, and since pressure vessels are frequently used in this method, there is a barrier to practical implementation, and furthermore a petrochemical-based adhesive is used for engineered wood such as laminated wood when integrating a wood material, which causes a sick house syndrome. SOLUTION: The wood material such as the thined wood is heated with superheated steam of atmospheric pressure to be softened and compressed and firmly bonded with an adhesive such as tannin free from the sick house syndrome at the same time to manufacture the wood material usable as a structural member. With the use of superheated steam of atmospheric pressure, the wood material can be manufactured without using a pressure vessel resulting in a cost increase. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
