PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-speed movable tool rest which has a light-weighted movable part, has high follow-up ability at high speed and high acceleration, and rapid and accurate ultra-precision-processing. SOLUTION: The high-speed movable tool rest includes a slider base, a slider slidably provided on the slider base, a tool holder provided at the tip of the slider for holding a tool, a linear motor device for relatively moving the slider with respect to the slider base and a position detector for detecting the moving position of the slider from the slider base. The tool holder is fixed at a position opposite to a tip bearing within an inner periphery of a hollow hole provided on a tip sliding shaft so that a protruding amount from a tip of the tip bearing is small in the tool attached to the tool holder.
