A process for producing a spacer for liquid crystal display apparatus, comprising carrying out inkjet printing on substratum (23) with droplets of an ink containing a resin and a solvent dissolving the same but substantially not containing any solid particles and removing the solvent from the droplets on the substratum (23) so as to form spacer (11) disposed at given position on the substratum (23), wherein when the surface tension at 25°C of the ink is referred to as X mN/N and the surface free energy at 25°C of the substratum (23) as Y mJ/m2, the value A of the following formula (1) is in the range of -10 to 15 mJ/m2.
