PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly-reliable lead-acid battery capable of suppressing breakage of a battery jar and lid occurring when an electrode pole is fused and hydrogen gas accumulated inside a battery is ignited by a spark in a case where electricity is discharged by an unexpected large current caused by abnormal use or improper use such as short-circuit between terminals of the lead-acid battery. SOLUTION: A portion where fuse by the large current of the electrode pole is expected is coated by a coating body. A clearance for dropping, in a lower part, fused lead generated by fusing part of the electrode pole is fused is arranged between the coating body and the electrode pole, and conduction of the electrode pole is securely cut off at a fused part. When a clearance dimension is within an adequate range, the breakage of the battery jar and lid which occurs when the hydrogen gas is ignited by the spark when the electrode pole is fused, can be suppressed.
