PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering device capable of preventing damage of a controller in primary collision of a vehicle. SOLUTION: An electric motor 5 is jointed to an upper part of a deceleration gear box 4 by extending its motor output shaft in a vertical direction of a vehicle to fit with a deceleration mechanism, and a controller 13 is jointed to an outer periphery of the deceleration gear box at a vehicle rear position with respect to the motor output shaft.
