PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeder capable of adjusting the separating force and the separation release position by a compact constitution. SOLUTION: The paper feeder comprises a conveying roller 2, a separating member 7, a spring 10 for giving the elastic force to the separating member, a transmission member 11 having a push-up unit 12 and a release unit 13 of the separating member, an adjustment cam 15 for deflecting the spring toward the separating member, and a pressure-release cam 16 which is brought into contact with the release unit and operated. The release unit of the transmission member is moved by the pressure-release cam and the push-up unit is moved in the pressure-releasing direction. The spring is deflected toward the adjustment cam to release the force of the separating member to push up the conveying roller. A spaceαis formed between the separating member and the conveying roller. When a print paper sheet fed to the space pushes up the separating member and further deflects the spring, the separating member presses the print paper sheet against the conveying roller by the force corresponding to the deflection of the spring.
