PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vane pump which enables reduction in the thickness of a side plate. SOLUTION: A vane pump 100 includes a cam ring 4 where a tip part of a vane 3 slides on a cam surface 4a at an inner periphery of the cam ring with the rotation of a rotor 2; a side plate 6 connected to a side surface of the cam ring 4; a pump chamber 7 defined between the rotor 2, cam ring 4 and side plate 6; an intake port 8b defined between the cam ring 4 and side plate 6; a discharge port 6c formed in the side plate 6; and a housing 13 for defining a high pressure chamber 9 for communicating to the discharge port 6c in the space with the side plate 6, wherein the side surface 6a of the side plate 6 facing the intake port 8b is formed in a planar shape while forming a port recess 4e for defining the intake port 8b in the side surface 4b of the cam ring 4.
