FIBER-REINFORCED PREPREG AND COMPOSITE MATERIAL OBTAINED THEREFROM

A prepreg which is obtained by impregnating a fiber reinforcement with a resin composition comprising: 40-70 parts by weight of an aromatic bismaleimide (A) represented by a specific general formula; 60-30 parts by weight of an alkenylphenol (B) represented by a specific general formula; a polyetherimide (C) which is a thermoplastic resin and is contained in an amount of 1-10 wt.% based on the sum of (A) and (B); and a noncrystalline polyimide (D) having a glass transition temperature of 200°C or higher contained in an amount of 15-50 wt.% based on the sum of (A) and (B). Also provided is a composite material obtained by heating and curing the prepreg. The fiber-reinforced prepreg and the composite material retain the intact heat resistance characteristic of the aromatic bismaleimide resin used as a major resin ingredient and have excellent toughness imparted thereto.
