<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a line head by which the degradation of printing quality is prevented even when a light emitting element has pixel defects and to provide an image forming apparatus using the line head. <P>SOLUTION: A light emitting element line comprising a plurality lines of organic EL elements 61 capable of exposing the whole image area is provided in the line head 70. When a current detector 74 detects that any of the light emitting elements has pixel defects, a control circuit 75 performs control so that the light emission amount of each light emitting element group (in the sub-scanning direction of an image carrier) is uniform.
