摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a weld metal having satisfactory low temperature toughness and also free from slag-in at the tip of a bead, in downward one electrode submerged arc welding or downward multiple electrode submerged arc welding. SOLUTION: The downward submerged arc welding method for producing one molten pool is characterized in that, when a weld metal having a tensile strength of≥800 MPa is produced by downward one electrode or downward multiple electrode submerged arc welding, a metal-cored wire(s) is arranged at a prescribed position(s) in at least one more parts selected from a space(s) of an electrode(s) and the rear of the electrode at the tail end, so as to control the amount of oxygen in the weld metal, also, the occupancy ratio of the amount of the deposited metal fed from the metal-cored wire(s) in the amount of the whole deposited metal is 5 to 40%, also, the basicity of the flux having a specified composition is 1.1 to 3.2, and also, the amount of oxygen in the metal-cored wire(s) to be used is 0.03 to 0.50% by mass.
