PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate assembling of a light emitting element and a light receiving element in a fire alarm, the light receiving element detecting emitted light from the light emitting element as scattered light caused by smoke entering a dark box to actuate an alarm means. SOLUTION: A cradle 4 for supporting a light emitting element 21 and a pair of guide members 6, 6 for supporting a light receiving element 25 protrude on a sensor base 2 with a part of a wall of the dark box 3 sheilding light while allowing entry of smoke therein. The light emitting element 21 is set in a concave portion 41 formed in the cradle 4, the light receiving element 25 is inserted between the guide members 6, 6, and thereby both elements 21, 25 can be easily positioned and supported.
