PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of a density correction process in which a decrease in printing efficiency is minimized. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a plurality of photoreceptor drums which are provided for corresponding toner colors and on which corresponding toner images are formed; a transfer belt on which the toner images are transferred; a toner test image forming means by which toner test images supplied to detect the densities of the toner images are formed on the corresponding photoreceptor drums; density sensors which detect the densities of the toner test images; and density correcting means which correct the densities of the toner images based on the detection results obtained by the detection sensors. The image forming apparatus is provided with a formation control means by which the plurality of toner test images are formed on the photoreceptor drums with the timing of arranging the toner test images parallel to one another in a line in a main scanning direction on the photoreceptor drums.
