PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester which is excellent in transparency, heat resistance, mechanical characteristics and aroma retention property, and advantageously usable as a container for food, drink or the like and a packaging material, and a polyester molded product formed of the polyester. SOLUTION: The polyester has a repeating unit consisting of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid component and a glycol component, and is characterized in that the difference between a value of taste (bitter taste) for extracted water obtained by performing extraction treatment on a molded product formed of the polyester in ultrapure water at 80°C for 1 hour, measured by a taste inspection device provided with a taste sensor composed of an artificial lipid membrane and a value of taste (bitter taste) for ultrapure water, measured by the same device is 2.0 or less.
