PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control system and a control method with excellent operability and capable of reflecting a human intention, by detecting presence of a human body at a first detection area, and further, by controlling based on a detection result at a second detection area. SOLUTION: The control system is provided with an object for control 5, a sensor 6 activating the object for control 5 in a given manner when a human body is detected at the first detection area 20, and starting detection of the second detection area 30 inside the first detection area 20, and a control means 13 controlling operation of the object for control 5 in accordance with the detection results of the sensor 6 in the second detection area 30.
