PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a nurse call master unit or a cell phone terminal to recognize whether a call incoming thereto is made from a slave unit having telephone communication functions or from a slave unit, without the telephone communication function. SOLUTION: The nurse call system includes a nurse call master unit (1); a slave unit with the telephone communication function (3); and a slave unit without the telephone communication function (4). The nurse call master unit comprises: a telephone communication detecting circuit (24) for recognizing whether a slave unit connected to the nurse call master unit is a slave unit with the telephone communication function or a slave unit, without the telephone communication function; a call incoming to the master unit reporting unit (11, 20) for reporting a call incoming from the slave unit with the telephone communication function or from the slave unit, without the telephone communication function; and a master unit control unit (15) for causing the call-reporting unit to change a report pattern, in response to the information on the type of the caller unit, the slave unit with the telephone communication functions or the slave unit without the telephone communication, which is recognized by the telephone communication detecting circuit.
