PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus for shortening first printing time without increasing the control load of a control device on a main body side even when a plurality of paper feed cassettes are added in the image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a main body control section which controls an image forming section; and a plurality of paper feed control sections conveying paper stored in a cassette to the image forming section along a conveyance path on the basis of a control signal transmitted from the main body control section via a communication line. Each of the paper feed control sections controls a conveyance mechanism conveying downstream the paper conveyed from the paper feed control sections located at the upstream side of the conveyance path. Each paper feed control section controls paper conveyance by switching the speed of the conveying mechanism on the basis of information on a supply source of paper to be controlled.
