PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a closed deck type cylinder block structure which is cast without using a core. SOLUTION: The closed deck type cylinder block structure is cast using a mold 50. It is provided with a plurality of cylinders 12, a water jacket 16 for cooling the cylinders 12, and a main oil path 18 as a lubricating oil path. An insert member 35 is formed which consists of: an oil path pipe material 20 having an inside as the main oil path 18; and a cooling hollow material 30 joined to the outer face thereof and arranged around the cylinders 12. The oil path pipe material 20 and the cooling hollow material 30 each have an opening portion. Into the opening portions, a cylinder bore protrusion 51a formed on the mold 50 are inserted to hold the insert member 35. The insert member 35 held by the mold 50 is enveloped and cast.
