PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mold clamping device which can appropriately control mold clamping force actuated by an electromagnet. SOLUTION: This mold clamping device, generating mold clamping force by an electromagnet and performs opening/closing of a mold through movement of a linear motor, comprises a mold clamping force detection means for detecting the mold clamping force, a position detection means for detecting a position relating to the movement of the linear motor, and a switching means for switching the object to be controlled of the linear motor to the detected value of mold clamping force or the detected value of the position by the position detection means.
