The present invention relates to transmitting of packets in a communications network, wherein the packets to be transmitted are marked according to importance levels of the packets and wherein the transmitting of the packets is performed in dependence of importance levels of said packets at least one time encoded and/or unencoded. In particular, the present invention relates to a corresponding method, to sending and receiving devices involved in said transmission of packets, a computer program product comprising a code configured to implement the method, and a data carrier comprising the computer program product.
