<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video display device that discriminates whether or not an instrument connected to the video display device can be operated in conjunction with the video display device. <P>SOLUTION: A video display device has a connection unit configured to connect to external instruments via a network, a receiving unit configured to receive, from the external instruments connected via the connection unit, standard compatibility information indicating that the external instruments meet the mutual controllability standards, a recording unit configured to record the standard compatibility information received by the receiving unit correspondingly for each external instrument, a display unit configured to display video information output by one of external instruments, a selection unit configured to select arbitrary one of the external instruments connected to the connection unit as an output source of video information to be displayed on the display unit, and a control unit configured to display and control the information based on the standard compatibility information for the arbitrary external instrument on the display unit when selecting the external instrument from among the external instruments by the selecting unit. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
