<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illumination device capable of illuminating to use a plurality of regions in a light guide plate respectively. <P>SOLUTION: The illumination device is constructed of a plurality of light sources 14A-14F and a light guide plate 12 having a plurality of illuminating regions 16A-16F which respectively illuminate by light from the plurality of the light sources 14A-14F. The light guide plate 12 has slits 18A-18F between respective illuminating regions. The slits 18A-18F prevent mixing of light between the adjoining illuminating regions or cause mixing of light in an established state.
