PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer changing sort direction regardless of a printing condition. SOLUTION: A scanner part 14 creates an image data for each page (step S1) and information on the number of pages of read original is acquired (step S2). When the number of pages of the original is a prescribed number or more (Yes in step S3), a digital copying machine 1 executes a printing process using a normal criss-cross sorting for changing a page output direction for each set (step S4). On the other hand, when the number of pages of the original is the prescribed number or less (No in step S3), the digital copying machine 1 executes a printing process using a high speed criss-cross sorting for outputting a head page in the SEF direction and then outputting the other pages in the LEF direction.
