PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wireless communication apparatus, a wireless communication method, a program, and a wireless communication system. SOLUTION: The wireless communication apparatus 10 which receives a transmission request signal from another wireless communication apparatus, transmits a response signal, corresponding to the transmission request signal, to another wireless communication apparatus, and then receives a data signal from another wireless communication apparatus, includes: a time zone setting part for setting a plurality of request time zones for receiving the transmission request signal, and a plurality of response time zones to be arranged, after the plurality of request time zones, in order to transmit the response signal; a communication part for communicating with the circumferential wireless communication apparatus; and a response control part for controlling whether to control transmission of the response signal from the communication part in the plurality of response time zones, according to the reception state of the transmission request signal from the circumferential wireless communication apparatus in the plurality of request time zones.
