PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic transistor having high mobility and a large current on/off ratio, and improved storage stability. SOLUTION: The organic transistor having an organic semiconductor layer contains at least one type of compound expressed by a general formula 1 in the organic semiconductor layer. In the formula, X<SB>1</SB>-X<SB>8</SB>each independently express a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a straight-chain, branched or cyclic alkyl group, a straight-chain, branched, or cyclic alkoxy group, or a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group. X<SB>1</SB>and X<SB>2</SB>, X<SB>2</SB>and X<SB>3</SB>, X<SB>3</SB>and X<SB>4</SB>, X<SB>5</SB>and X<SB>6</SB>, X<SB>6</SB>and X<SB>7</SB>, or X<SB>7</SB>and X<SB>8</SB>may be bonded to each other to form a substituted or unsubstituted benzene ring. R<SB>1</SB>and R<SB>2</SB>each independently express a hydrogen atom, a straight-chain, branched, or cyclic alkyl group, a straight-chain, branched, or cyclic alkoxyalkyl group, or a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group.
