PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a passenger conveyer lighting system which emits a strong light for a long time in a power failure in a building and in which peeling of luminous parts does not occur. SOLUTION: The passenger conveyer lighting system is disposed in a passenger conveyer including a balustrade panel standing on both sides of steps, a skirt guard disposed at both sides of the steps securing a small gap from the steps and an inside deck covering from the lower edge of the balustrade panel to the position where a predetermined gap remains to the upper end of the skirt guard. In skirt lighting as the passenger conveyer lighting system, illuminating through a lighting cover made of transparent resin blocking an opening that is open to the step side, of a lighting case disposed between the upper edge of the skirt guard and the lower edge part of the inner deck, a luminous tape containing a luminous pigment is attached or a luminous paint containing the luminous pigment is applied inside of the lighting case or on the back face reinforcing plate of the skirt guard.
