PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a conveying method capable of largely opening a container conveying path so that a user can easily treat a jammed paper sheet, and a conveying method and an image forming device capable of preventing the positioning accuracy of a branched claw of the paper sheet conveying path from being impaired even in the image forming device using the method. SOLUTION: In a structure of a recording medium conveying path, a branching means is switched from the second position to the first position via an urging means for forming a first conveying path; the branching means is switched from the first position to the second position via a driving means for forming a second conveying path; the branching means is switched from the first position to the third position on the side where a fore end of the branching means is further separated from the second position than the first position via the urging means according to the opening of a second conveying path; and the branching means is switched from the third position to the first position according to the opening of the second conveying path.
