PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a locking device of a fuel tank cap which simplifies a lock releasing operation of the cap, can improve a scurity effect, and to improve operability. SOLUTION: The locking device of the fuel tank cap is equipped with the cap 1 which blocks a fueling port communicating with the fuel tank of a vehicle and can be opened and closed by turning, a locking means 2 which can restrict the turning of the cap to lock the opening and closing, or can permit the turning to release, a transmission means 3 which can be taken along by a driver and transmits an intrinsic ID code of the vehicle, a receiving means 4 which is disposed at the vehicle side and can receive the ID code from the transmission means 3, and a determination means 5 which determines whether or not the ID code received by the receiving means 4 is legitimate in the vehicle. The locking device of the fuel tank cap is characterized in that the locking can be released by a locking means 2 on the condition that the determination means 5 determines that it receives the legitimate ID code.
