PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption of a storage system while maintaining processing efficiency of jobs executed in a computer. SOLUTION: The storage system which is connected to the computer in which jobs for processing data are executed comprises a storage controller and a disk drive. The storage controller provides a storage area of the disk drive to the computer by assigning it to a logic volume, controls the rotation of the disk drive, receives job information including execution order of the jobs and load attributes of the jobs in execution of the jobs, selects a logic volume to which no storage area is assigned when a logic volume for storing a file to be temporarily used by the executed jobs is requested, selects a storage area to be assigned to the selected logic volume based on at least one of the execution order of jobs and the load attribute of jobs, and assigns it to the logic volume.
