PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an character input device, an image forming apparatus and an information terminal device, capable of mastering easily an operation, and capable of inputting quickly a character. SOLUTION: This character input device has a plurality of operation keys allocated with two or more of character data, and detects depression from a user to the operation key so as to specify the user-desiring character data out of the two or more of character data, based on a detection result. The character input device has a depression frequency measuring part 70a for detecting an operation key depression frequency by single depression onto the first operation key allocated with the desired character data desired by the user or continuous depression from the first operation key to the second operation key adjacent to the first operation key, or continuous depression from the first operation key to the third operation key continuously adjacent through the second operation key, and a character data specifying part 70b for specifying the desired character data, based on ranking information for the two or more of character data allocated to the first operation key and the operation key depression frequency.
