PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain sure access to an intended file or directory without reducing a cache hit rate even in a storage in which a file handle value and a file name or directory name are shared. SOLUTION: The storage comprises an access processing part 103 for accessing data according to an access request in which a processing object is designated according to the content of a file handle cache; an access permitter assignment part 101 for assigning an access permitter that is an indentifier for uniquely identifying formation of a file or directory, and storing the assigned access permitter as a pair with the file handle of the file or directory as metadata of the file or directory; and an access permission determination part 102 for determining, for the received access request, whether a file handle designated as the processing object of the access request is valid or invalid based on the combination of a file handle and access permitter.
