PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical rotary encoder suppressing deterioration of detection accuracy by reducing a warp amount of a position-detecting pattern part of a pulse disk. SOLUTION: This optical rotary encoder 100 has: the pulse disk 7 formed with a position-detecting pattern; a rotary shaft 2 rotatably held by a housing 1, sticking the pulse disk 7 to a top part 2t and holding it; an light emitting element 8 irradiating light on the position-detecting pattern of the pulse disk 7; and a light receiving element 11 receiving the light from the light emitting element 8 through the position-detecting pattern of the pulse disk 7. A thickness of a central part of an adhesive layer sticking the pulse disk 7 to the top part 2t of the rotary shaft 2 is thinned as compared to a thickness of the circumference of the central part.
