HEAT ASSISTED MAGNETIC HEAD, HEAD GIMBAL ASSEMBLY, AND HARD DISK DRIVE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat assisted magnetic head of a good yield, an HGA (Head Gimbal Assembly) equipped with this heat assisted magnetic head and a hard disk drive equipped with this HGA.

SOLUTION: A slider 22 has: a slider board 220; an electromagnetic transducer element 34; a waveguide 35 which receives light from a surface opposite to a medium facing surface S and guides it to a medium facing surface side; and an electrode 371 for elements electrically connected to the electromagnetic transducer element 34. A light source unit 23 has: a light source support board 230; a light source 40; and a lead 471 which stretches from a slider side to an opposite side of the slider and has both ends exposed to a surface of the light source unit 23. The electrode 371 for the elements of the slider is exposed to the surface opposite to the medium facing surface S of the slider 22 without being covered with the light source unit. An edge part 471a at the slider side of a lead of the light source unit 23 and the electrode 371 for the elements of the slider are soldered.
