PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooking apparatus hardly causing damage to an infrared ray generating means even when taking in and out a heat reception object during cooking, and obscuring smudge adhered to the infrared ray generating means. SOLUTION: The cooking apparatus has a heating chamber 11 provided with a front face opening, recessed parts 25a, 25b formed on a ceiling face of the heating chamber 11, and a tube heater 21 housed in the recessed parts 25a, 25b. The tube heater 21 is provided adjacent to the front face opening side inner walls 25af, 25bf of the recessed parts 25a, 25b, tube heater 21 lower end parts are positioned in recessed part 25a, 25b outer sides above a rim part of a heating chamber 11 front face opening side, and it is arranged so that the tube heater 21 is hidden from a user from the front face opening side.
