METAL INJECTION MOULDING METHOD

A method of forming an article by metal injection moulding comprises the steps of forming a mixture of a metal powder comprising aluminium or an aluminium alloy and a binder and optionally a sintering agent, injection moulding the mixture, removing the binder and sintering to form the article, wherein the step of injection moulding includes placing a solid component into a cavity of a mould and injecting the mixture into the cavity whereby the solid component forms part of the article. The solid component may be a reinforcing component or it may be a magnetic or magnetisable component.
